Carbomb - s/t

Category: reviews

Only 3 songs on this appetizer of Carbomb, 1 even below one Minute and another one below 2 minutes. Although some more music would have been nice to get a picture of this band, this is okay for getting a first impression. Carbomb from the USA play a mixture of metal and hardcore, but not as those common bastards do. This is highly technical, mathematical metalcore, constantly shifting pace and rythms, delivering many offbeats and weird moments – Dillinger Escape Plan and Meshugga are given as comparisms, and this already hits the mark quite well. The music appears hostile and aggressive, often disharmonic, knowingly discerped and with a sick shouter. Jazzy moments are on here as well as mosh. The rythmsection of course has a lot to do, not a single beat appears as another. Coming back to the shouter, I like the singing in the final track, quite unusual and adding more colour. Although both bands mentioned as comparisms do their stuff a bit more dense and intense than Carbomb, this is just their debut and is therefore enough to look forward to their full length debut out in early 2007. Oh yeah, ex-members of Neck are found on here.
